Scoop of Support: Join Me at the Downtown Ice Cream Social
Join candidate Billy Montgomery at the Gillette Ice Cream Social on June 23rd at Third Street Plaza! Stop by his table to chat about his plans for our city.
From the battlefields of Vietnam to nine years on the City Council, Billy has dedicated his life to serving others. He brings a deep, steady hand to local government, built on a foundation of integrity and a genuine, long-standing commitment to the people of Ward 2 and beyond.
A 34-year career at the BNSF Railroad taught Billy the value of hard work, reliability, and precision. As a Deputy Coroner and a long-time public servant, he has handled the toughest challenges with professionalism, ensuring that Gillette’s operations are always managed with fiscal responsibility and common sense.
Whether he is maintaining our parks alongside his wife, Toby Lynn, or advocating for veteran mental health, Billy is a leader who is "boots on the ground." He knows our city’s strengths and its struggles because he’s lived them right alongside you, and he is ready to work every day to ensure our future remains bright.
Gillette’s strength relies on the basics: safe roads, dependable utilities, and well-maintained public spaces. With nine years of experience on the City Council, I understand how to manage our city’s budget with the pragmatism it deserves. My approach is simple: we prioritize “fix-it-first” maintenance to protect our existing assets before embarking on new projects. I am committed to ensuring that your tax dollars are managed with the same discipline I practiced during my 34-year career at the BNSF Railroad, guaranteeing that our city services remain reliable, efficient, and ready to meet the needs of every family in Gillette.
Energy has always been the heartbeat of Campbell County, and I am committed to ensuring it remains a powerful engine for our local economy. Having spent decades working in the rail industry, I know firsthand the dedication and skill of our local workforce. As Mayor, I will champion our traditional industries while aggressively pursuing smart opportunities for economic diversification. My goal is to create an environment where our current workers are supported and our young people have the technical training and opportunities they need to build their careers, their families, and their futures right here at home.
I believe a city is only as strong as the people who live in it. My service as a Deputy Coroner and my work with the Campbell County Suicide Prevention Coalition have given me a sobering, firsthand look at the challenges our neighbors face every day. I am running to ensure that Gillette leads by example in providing robust mental health resources and veteran support services. For me, this isn’t just policy—it is a personal commitment to creating a community where no one is left to face a crisis alone. Together, we will continue building a safer, more compassionate Gillette for every generation.
